"Blogs are like Lego"

This is what I've been telling the kids in my class this first week of school as they slog through setting up their blogs for the year.
Blogs are really like Lego. There are so many ways to build one that is yours. That has been customized for you. There are so many plug - ins and widgets. So many themes to choose from, so many ways to design blog rolls that it really isn't about having a whole lot of tech skills anymore. Setting up blogs is about setting up a communication biosphere that works for you to thrive in. Yours is probably different from someone elses. It will evolve and change as the year goes on and as your needs and understanding of what blogging and global communication is and how you can work within a network of learners.
A blog takes some time to set up, to snap the pieces together in a way that you like. You need to spend the time, it's a basic foundation of where your learning happens.
