K12 Online

K12 Online is back!
You may have seen the call for proposals and I am not going to republish the guidelines here. What I am going to do is appeal to people to take the time to submit their very best work. Over the last few years, this conference has shown the possibilities for changing professional development for teachers. The first year of the conference, I was fortunate enough to have a session accepted. I worked hard on it, wanting to contribute something of value. Last year, I was honoured to be asked to give one of the keynote sessions. Again, I was scared and worried but overwhelmingly pleased to be able to contribute something to the entire conference.
The first year of the conference I was pleased, living in a small community to have access to such a conference. The second year I learned that this was not only great for people living in small communities. It was people world wide, in communities small and large, who were happy to have access to current content, presented by people deeply involved and deeply passionate about moving our classrooms and systems into the twenty first century.
The tools we have access to have changed the possibilities for education. We have built international networks for education that involve teachers, administrators, university and college level instructors as well as district personnel. We have our RSS accounts, twitter, and a seemingly constant stream of events that are podcasted and ustreamed. But K12 Online still stands out. It has become a cornerstone of our community and is an opportunity for us to showcase how far we have come and what we have managed to learn. Among all of the transitory content that we produce and work through, the K12 Online events and archives are evidence of what we can accomplish.
So please take the time to consider presenting. We need to hear from everyone, from those new to these changes and possibilities and those with more experience. One thing great about all of these technologies is that they give us all a voice. They give us a window into other people's thoughts and lives. We get to see their reality and learn from each other.
So congratulations in advance to the organizers for changing the world and lets see you put your best stuff out there for us all to learn from!
