New Media Artists - Video Interviews

Henry Jenkins has posted today about a series of videos that he is involved with producing through a grant from the MacArthur Foundation. Leading up to "the release of a significant white paper in October," these videos are to serve as exemplars which can be used in classrooms to discuss the creation of new content in digital times. In his words, these videos focus on "media-makers and the craft and ethical choices they face in producing and distributing their work."

The second set out is a set of short video interviews with Canadian Cory Doctorow the science fiction writer, digital advocate, and prolific blogger. Other sets so far include a comic book writer, a special effects artist, and a radio host. This looks like a powerful, timely resource. Well crafted videos made by people involved in the producing, crafting, and decision - making with new types of content. Kids need to see this stuff. They need to understand how the content creation landscape is changing and the new ideas and opportunities that are available.
