Reviewing the Long Tail

I'm one of 100 bloggers who are going to be receiving early copies of Chris Andersen's (the editor of Wired magazine) new book, The Long Tail.

I've been fascinated, watching the ideas grow and solidify across his blog over the past year. I've been spending some time thinking about the long tail and how it applies to education and to knowledge management, direction, and creation. What does this have to do with classrooms and schools? I'm not sure yet, but when I return home from the holiday I'm on (free, quality wi-fi from inside my camper in a campground just outside the beautiful city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan..... Aaaahhhh, roughing it is tough don't you think?) I am really looking forward to trying to figure it out.

I look forward to reading it too...there is a lot of buzz about it at NECC in San Diego...

Very impressive! I know that you will apply great insight and practical applications with your incredible background and skill in the classroom. Best wishes.

I see from the comments that there was some discussion of this at NECC...I missed that thread but will look forward to your comments and review. Mostly I am checking in to let you know I am back up and running. NECC was a great experience and I have posted some of my reflections. More will come as well as how things are rolling out at school...In the meantime I will continue to learn from your insights and experiences. Thanks!

I noticed tonight that Chris is going to be doing a skypecast interview on July 24th that would be interesting to join in on!

The long tail is already impacting us all.

For a humorous piece of insight, follow the link here to a nicely done Utube video.
